Mother Devastated After Daughter Named After Khaleesi Is Denied Passport

Disneyland dream ruined for six-year-old refused passport as she was named after Game of Thrones

Mother 'devastated' after daughter named after Khaleesi is denied passport

A six-year-old girl has been refused a passport because she is named after Khaleesi from Game of Thrones.

Lucy Smith from Leeds said she was "devastated" when she was told that due to her daughter's unusual name she would not be able to get a passport.

She had planned to take her daughter on a dream holiday to Disneyland Paris, but now their plans are in ruins.

"I can't believe this is happening," said Lucy.

"I just don't understand why they can't give her a passport. It's not her fault that she has an unusual name.

"She's just a little girl who loves Game of Thrones. She's not a terrorist."

Lucy said that she had no idea that naming her child after a Game of Thrones character would cause any problems.

"I just thought it was a cool name," she said.

"I never thought it would stop her from getting a passport.

"I'm so disappointed that we can't go to Disneyland now.

"It was going to be a special trip for her birthday.

"I don't know what we're going to do now."

A spokesperson for the Home Office said that they could not comment on individual cases.

However, they said that there are a number of reasons why a passport application may be refused.

These include if the applicant's name is "likely to cause offence".
