French 2024 European election results town by town

Our map will update live as results are counted

French voters returned to the polls on Sunday June 30, three weeks after President Emmanuel Macron was re-elected.

The results of the parliamentary election are crucial for Macron, as he needs a majority in the National Assembly to pass his legislative agenda.

Far-right makes gains

In the first round of the election, the far-right National Rally (RN) made significant gains, winning 334 votes. This represents a significant increase from the 2017 election, when the RN won only 8% of the vote.

The RN's success is due in part to the popularity of its leader, Marine Le Pen. Le Pen had a strong performance in the presidential election, losing to Macron by just 4%.

Macron's party holds lead

Despite the RN's gains, Macron's party, La République En Marche (LREM), remains in the lead. LREM won 323 votes in the first round.

However, LREM is likely to lose seats in the second round of the election, as it faces challenges from both the RN and the left-wing coalition, Nupes.

Conclusion

The results of the French parliamentary election will have a significant impact on the country's political landscape. If Macron is unable to secure a majority in the National Assembly, he will be forced to rely on support from other parties, which could make it difficult for him to pass his agenda.
