Boy Scouts Employee Crashed Jet Ski, Killing 10-Year-Old at Camp, TN Lawsuit Alleges
The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is facing a lawsuit after a 10-year-old boy was killed in a jet ski accident at a summer camp in Tennessee.
The lawsuit, filed by the boy's parents, alleges negligence on the part of the BSA and its employees.
The incident occurred on July 22, 2022, at the BSA's Camp Cherokee in Gatlinburg.
According to the lawsuit, the boy was riding a jet ski with a BSA employee when the employee lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a dock.
The boy was thrown from the jet ski and died from his injuries.
The lawsuit alleges that the BSA was negligent in hiring and training the employee, and in failing to provide adequate supervision of the boy.
The BSA has not yet commented on the lawsuit.
The accident is the latest in a series of tragedies involving the BSA.
In 2020, a 12-year-old boy drowned at a BSA summer camp in Georgia.
In 2019, a 14-year-old boy died in a hiking accident at a BSA summer camp in Utah.
The BSA has been criticized for its handling of these tragedies.
In 2021, a group of former BSA employees filed a lawsuit against the organization, alleging that it had covered up sexual abuse of children.
The BSA has denied the allegations.
